Helen Mountfort is one of Australia’s most accomplished musicians. A cellist and composer, Mountfort is active in both the contemporary classical and popular music fields. Mountfort was a founding member of My Friend the Chocolate Cake and a pivotal element of Not Drowning, Waving for six years. Mountfort has also composed music for theatre, dance and film, and is a member of the composing string quartet DeFLOCKeD.

Mountfort’s cello provides morning edges with a haunting quality that both chills and warms. A hugely emotive musical ingredient, Mountfort’s cello is moving and vital when played on its own, and overwhelming and rich when layered upon itself and accompanying instruments.
